Shop photo shoot for Haute Home

We recently had a little photo shoot at the shop...

The fabulous Ashley Hope of AWH Photo + Design came by to shoot a couple of beds from Haute Home's Spring 2012 line. It's quite amazing what professional lighting, equipment (and eye!) can do to make linens come to life!

To get you dreaming about the beach....

A dose of shells and coral to get you dreaming of warmer days and long nights.

I'm a big fan of the dotted sheets with a straight light and just a touch of coral. A great way to implement a little beach if you don't want to go overboard.

Wish all of our shop photos could look this pretty. Our iPhone images captured as we are running around the shop don't quite do the pretty linens and accessories justice. Thank goodness for the pros!

Burning Desire...to spruce things up with some new candles

It is smelling sooooo good at Gramercy these days!

Fun new Illume candles. Lots of great patterns - these make perfect gifts.

Come by and sniff for yourself.

We've also recently added tapered candles by Creative Candle to the shop.

We have these tapers in regular size and the gift set of skinny's. The set comes with pretty cubed acrylic holders so you don't have to worry about finding the right thing to hold them.

Of course we have them in "Gramercy Blue."

And pinks and oranges, etc.

How did we know what to do before Pantone introduced its color off the year?? The combination of 2011 and 2012 colors seems to be everywhere. Of course we couldn't resist doing a little tabletop version. The "placemat" is actually a Madeline Weinrib rug sample - so wish she made placemats!

This bedroom just says fun and funky. Such a happy room and a great space to start and end each day. It belongs to designer Jenny Keenan and I'm so glad to know about her.

Meet our Pillow of the Year for 2011. This custom monogrammed pillow - with it's unique design and pretty color combination - made a big impression with our blog readers and shop customers. We whipped this up from one of our hand drawn monograms to offer an example of what is possible in the shop. Little did we know this pillow would work with so many beds!

Don't you adore my blue cabinets with the marble? It makes me happy every time I come in the room.

At last, we are ready for dinner. This is a very bold choice for me but for a room that only gets used here and there why not go big?!?!

Plus, there is a disco ball chandelier in case we want to have a post-dinner dance party.

House Tour: The Southern Eclectic's Eclectic Home

Are you familiar with Sheridan French? She's the beauty and brains behind the woman's clothing line of the same name. She's a fun, funky woman based in Fort Worth, TX who also writes a great blog (The Southern Eclectic) on the side.

Well, Casa Sugar just did a tour of her home and I was just delighted. It's fun and funky and so worth a peak inside. A few of my favorites - this kitchen. Wow. Love it! It's so warm but spacious with lots of fun accents.

What a fun family room. The leopard rug with bold orange and pink curtains all anchored with a big comfy couch and sprinkled with eclectic accessories and details.

Grand but not grandiose entrance.

Bet you recognize this piece from a few blog posts and pins.

I imagine the dinner parties and family game nights are extra fun at this house!

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone enjoyed a nice, long weekend. We've been busy catching our breath after the holidays and going to market. We managed to take a few shots of some monograms before they went out the door and I thought I'd share...

These two monograms are part of our custom monogram program - pretty fancy shmancy!

One of our New Year's resolutions is to take more pictures of our monograms...Hopefully more coming soon!

LA lovelies - It's all about glass

Part of my whole "get organized" plan is to tie up all those loose ends. I realized I had some pictures from my Thanksgiving trip to LA that I've wanted to share...no time like the present! Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you with every detail of the trip - just sharing a few pretty things I found that I think you might enjoy as well.

First, these gorgeous pressed glass cake stands. I lost the card with the name of the shop but it's right on Abott Kinney in Venice - next to Intelligentsia for you LA folks. If anyone is dying to know the place let me know and I'll do a more thorough search.

The above image is of one of the display windows. Doesn't it just beckon you to go and see more? I did and I'm glad. I was in my happy place.

The unbelievable part is that I managed to walk through this store (multiple times even) without breaking anything. I'm a bit of a klutz. Fortunately, I was carrying a small cross-body bag that helped keep me out of trouble. I should mention I had a run-in the same week with a reindeer display at the grocery store. I knocked poor Rudolph right over and let's just say Eric, an associate at the store, was not happy when he got paged for reindeer triage. He looked at me and then at my big ole' bag and I just felt shame. I felt the urge to express my annoyance with Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving but I bit my tongue. I don't think it would help the situation. I digress....

Back to the glass...The lemon colored pieces were stunning, unfortunately the pic is not.

Later that week I hit H.D. Buttercup with my sis (love that place). My favorite part was the display of lights by Cisco Home.

I want them all. And, the large farm table. And, the two chairs behind. And, this phenomenal lavender bed I saw in the back. And...do you see a theme? It's a dangerous place to visit. Just be warned .

Finally, I found these precious blown glass bud vases that resemble my favorite Christmas ornaments. Perfect gifts for those December birthdays and pretty all year long. These stunners are at Floral Art (again on Abbott Kinney).

In other non-glass related events, the new Kelly Werstler shop had just opened when I was in town. We were grabbing dinner down the street (Melrose this time - we did venture off Abott Kinney). It was closed but I took a few shots through the windows because I thought the displays were great and very Kelly.

I mean, who doesn't want to see a woman standing on a large head?!

Oh, the restaurant we ate at down the street from KW's shop was Red O. Fantastic Mexican cuisine that is not super easy to find for those of us on the east coast. I had to keep myself from ordering multiples of the cucumber mint margaritas. YUM.

I enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. Hope I didn't bore you to tears. Thanks for indulging me!

Organized Office Spaces

I don't know about you but I'm taking this New Year thing seriously. I've buried myself in my office and made the mistake of trying to reorganize all of my files. So, now I have piles and piles of papers waiting to be put in the right place. I decided to take a little break and look for some inspiring office spaces to keep me motivated to complete the task.

I've been a fan of this simple space since I saw it on the cover of BHG. Nothing fancy, nothing "high design" but it just works. Unfortunately, the layout doesn't work in my office space as I have way too much furniture in there right now. Next home, perhaps.

I've posted this one probably three times. I just adore this room.

If I ever have more space than I know what to do with it I'd love a work space like this studio.

Fine Linens beyond the bedroom...KP MacLane

The girls at Gramercy are obviously suckers for fine linens. While typically focused on linens for the home, we have something new that caught our eye. A dear customer and her husband have a company, KP MacLane, that creates fine linen polo shirts.

These shirts are suuuuuuuuper soft and stylish and come packaged in the most adorable canvas bags featuring the company's funky logo - a pink and green bird.

The founding couple, Katherine and Jared MacLane, who met while working at Hermes. Certainly they know a thing or two about luxury and apparel!!

Is Navajo going to be the new Ikat in 2012?

It's a new year! Hope you all are having a great start to 2012.

While Navajo is certainly not new it certainly seems to be gaining a new found popularity.

The key to keep it modern and fresh is to keep the rest of the room relatively neutral. Be careful about adding too many layers or you will look like you transported yourself straight to old school New Mexico.

I finally got a chance to sit down and look through the December House Beautiful and this home really caught my eye. It doesn't hurt that everything is styled to perfection.

I've been really drawn toward darker cabinets but this kitchen makes me rethink white.

High gloss black bead board is sensational.

My favorite bed right now...BVN

One of my favorite beds we've had in a while...This amazing embroidery is done by a family owned business located outside of Florence Italy called Bagni Volpi Noemi (aka. BVN). The collection consists of hand guided embroidery on amazing quality percale, sateen and matelasse.

Seriously, how gorgeous is this work?

The company actually has a bunch of videos on YouTube that demonstrate how the sheets are made and how the embroidery is worked onto the fabric. I was fascinated with the precision and skill required in a simple (not so simple) chain stitch sown in this video. I can't event imagine the focus required to produce some of these more intricate patterns.

Because everything is hand guided and made in the family studio, all items are 100% "customizable." Endless options abound...And, just to let you know, the sheets are even softer than the designs are pretty. Truly a gem of a company.

blabla on the Blogs...

We've become quite good friends with these little cuties. We feel they are part of the Gramercy family and we always get so excited when new ones come to the shop. Every child seems to just adore blabla dolls! These precious dolls are knitted of natural fibers by Peruvian artists and they are quickly storming well-designed nurseries everywhere!

I think this is my third post on twin beds - I love a pair of twin beds like no other.

This room has a great masculine vibe and I can't get over those twisted spindle beds (I'm sure there is a much more design appropriate term, but that's my lingo).

I thought these bloomers were so cute in aqua and yellow but the camera did some crazy flash thing so it's hard to see. People always do pink but if you go for multiple pairs it's great to mix it up in some different colors.

Inspiring Guest Rooms

The holidays aren't just coming...they are here! With that comes lots of guests. While you don't have time for a total guest room makeover at this point, you can certainly do a few things to freshen up your space. I love the calm, neutral palette that that these rooms offer. Spruce up your room with a new throw, pillows, and fresh sheeting.

Add a cable knit throw for some extra coziness and one of my favorite types of pillows - Adam and Victoria's velvet applique. I'm also a huge fan of water carafes on the side table, along with lots of magazines and books in the room.

A lot of guest rooms are tiny (I mean "cozy"). When incorporating a twin bed don't leave out the luxe details like a great headboard and divine sheets!

I tend to keep my guest space neutral but this room makes me want to rethink that! Love the color!

This is the perfect guest retreat space in a cozy mountain house.

I'm not going to lie. I thought the antler trend was one that was going to come and go quickly. Wrong! Antlers certainly have some staying power. If you are trying to decide how to incorporate some antlers in your home you'll find that no space is off limits...

Rebecca Cabassa - Paintings in the Shop

We had a show with Rebecca a few weeks ago that was a blast! I realized, however, that I never shared photos of some of her new work that we have hanging in the shop. I'm obsessed with this pair - I think the size is about 24 x 60. A lot of her work this time is a little stronger colored and more jeweled tones. For those who crave the light and airy feel of some of her previous paintings....

Newlywed Chic - not your typical starter home...

I don't know about you but when I got hitched I had a major challenge blending my style (lots of color and funky furnishings) with my husbands classic (and boring beige) preferences. We both had lots of hand-me-down furniture and our look was eclectic and that wasn't by choice.

Luckily for Claiborne Swanson Frank, she found a man with a plan and a uber-chic mother. And, apparently, a very big budget to design the couple's first home together as they walked toward wedded bliss...

Dark Interiors: Cozy, Sexy, Chic

After my last post mentioning a Dark 'n' Stormy I started thinking of all things dark in the home. When the cooler air hits I suddenly want to take away all my light and bright and hole up in a dark and cozy spot. I truly need a summer and winter home to deal with my multiple seasonal personalities. The peacock/teal wall color in this living room makes me happy. It probably would all year!

I clearly have a thing for gray cabinets.

I'd mix my gray cabinets with an island of wood cabinets like these. GORGEOUS!!

Exposed brick left un-painted with oriental rug - works great with all the windows.

Moody black wall. I may have posted this before. I'd never think to do it but I love it.

Even closets can have some great dark elements like this chest covered in textured wallpaper.

Doesn't really fit the rest of my post except it's a darker colored cabinet(s). Just makes me smile so thought I'd share.

I am a bit concerned. I was just flipping through my November issue of House Beautiful and fell in love with this So Cal house designed by Parrish Chilcoat and Joe Lucas. Why am I concerned? Because the designers mention that "Everything definitely says Dude" when discussing the interiors of the home they designed for a professional hockey player. I'm a sucker for lots of light in an office. I always want one window to look out and one to my left for light to pour in...And a desk with lots of room to cross my legs under. This does it!

I think this tile would be so gorgeous in a powder room - small space, big impact.

This pretty photo of a little vignette we had at the shop got my mind thinking all things black and white. It can look so boring if not done right but adding different textures and (sometimes) subtle color creates a successful palette.

I'm pretty much obsessed with this kitchen. I love dark cabinets. The dark shelves are a perfect way to make everyday white look like art. Well, some of the pieces in that cabinet really are art!

I would certainly linger over my tea and paper in this spot.

An open bathroom that still feels warm and cozy. Check out the clever gallery - one of the "pictures" is a small window. So smart.

Lots going on in here but it works with the seating in a grounding color scheme.

I'd like to try dark as night walls sometime. These are so fun. I bet this room is amazing at night with candles glowing.

Great gallery wall.

I've posted this recently but I think it's one of the best black and white bedrooms I've seen.

I am a sucker for a white house with black shutters. As my husband says - you just love a "Father of the Bride" house. I would pass this one on my neighborhood walks and I'd always stop at check it out. I finally had to take a picture. Good thing I moved - they may have thought I was a stalker!

Nursery Love: John Robshaw

How adorable is this little piggie cutout? My dear friend, Whitney, is the clever mind behind the creation. She created the sweetest little nursery for her new baby girl highlighting John Robshaw's Kochi Kashmir.

A group shot of the little creatures. These just kill me they are so fun. Loving the window treatment, as well.

Another angle. The daybed usually has the J.R. quilt on it but it was being used by Baby Girl (see below).

And, little squirl. This is my kind of art for a nursery. And, a great way to use leftover fabirc. I shouldn't be surprised at the creativity from Whit - she has the most wonderful cashmere line so creativity runs through her all day long.

On a recent trip to NYC I had to go visit this little place of heaven - Madeline Weinrib Atelier at ABC Carpet & Home. Fortunately, the folks there were nice enough to give me permission to take some pics so I can share with you...

Feeling "Nautie"

As the new school year is upon us many are hitting the lake and beach for one last "hoorah" before getting serious with schedules and studies. In honor of the last weeks of summer, I thought I'd round up a few of my favorite nautical inspiration rooms and pieces.

We did these longitude and latitude napkins a while ago, but they are still some of my favorite. The little crabby guy and anchor are actually a bottle openers.

I don't remember where I got this image from but how clever is this built in bench - it slightly resembles a boat but not in an over "cutsie" way. So smart.

Dransfield and Ross has the best collection of nautical pillows. They also come in blue, which I might like a little more. My favorite is that one in the front right with all the different knots.

I thought it only appropriate to show a bedroom that was actually on a boat.

Last, but not least, our anchor monogram on cocktail napkins. I love them on the red and white tablecloth!

Color Explosion with Sferra

I finally found my usb cord to download a few pics from Market a couple weeks ago. I have a real problem keeping up with that thing. Honestly, I actually went and bought a new one because mine seems to have evaporated - again. On a positive note, I'm super excited to share Sferra's new colorways for its Festival linen collection. There are 101 different colors that you can select from to find the perfect hue for your table linens. That's right One Hundred and One. (There were only a dozen, previously). The Festival Linen collection is our go-to for dinner and cocktail napkins. They wash and "wear" beautifully and you can use them for casual or formal dining.

The company also expanded it's color options for its towels. I'm a huge fan of this display. If only we had a jillion square feet of space so we could do this, as well.

And, it didn't neglect its throws. A more subtle palette but nonetheless beautiful. The Celine throw is our most popular throw and the Bristol is my new favorite because it is so soft and light. Perfect for the summer.

Those of you that have been reading this blog for some time know that I have a thing (read: obsession) for Tom Scheerer's designs. I was stalking his site as I often do to see what might be new.

I was delighted to see this great home he worked on in Southwest Harbor, Maine. I was just up there in April and it's a good thing I didn't know about this house. I might have been caught for stalking.

Wicker Wingbacks - This is certainly the perfect space for the pair.

I'm not a yellow wall person but I could hang in this room. I love that it's a little "grandma" but still chic.

This collection of hats displayed prominently makes me smile. It reminds me of my grandparents who never go outdoors without proper head coverage. If this was my home I'm sure the bust would be wearing one too.

So many different elements going on here but he pulls them all together seamlessly.

As much as I love the indoors, I would spend every pretty day out here.

And every pretty night dining al fresco.
